Confusion
I will shed light on some of the confusion:

​​​ ​I am in the process of writing a book that debunks a lot of lies that are out there that we believe to be true. It has taken me 35+ years to get to the truth; and I am worn out from all the processing I committed myself to, yet feel very fulfilled that it came to me after all.

I have been working next to Marla Hickerson for four months; and, over that time, I have had quite a few opportunities to engage in meaningful conversations with her.
​
During these times, I have noticed that she has a number of natural counselling skills within her; and, she seems to have a powerful therapeutic intuition.
​
As a social work student in the final days of my HBSW education, I have gone through the counselling skills courses and was able to identify some outstanding skills that Marla possesses without having any professional training in clinical therapy.

Marla has very natural attending behaviours and active listening skills. She shows warmth and empathy with an effective ability to track conversations in order to keep focused on the important topics.

Another one of her strongest skills seems to be identifying themes and patterns in what is said as well as finding and reflecting the meaning to what is said.

Marla's observational skills are very astute; and, she has an ear for hearing beyond what is said to work towards uncovering the deeper meaning behind it.

She is also able to recognize discrepancies between statements, as well as between one's behaviours and statements.

I was very inspired and impacted by my conversations with Marla; and I really believe that she has a gift for clinical therapy. I hope to see that she is given opportunities to practice and pursue these natural abilities so that she can share this gift with potential clients.
